Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Use a dedicated Azure billing support request instead of the in-product “help understanding my invoice” flow.
Follow these steps to get to a real billing ticket and have an engineer review and explain the “Networking” and “Storage” charges, and check for any hidden/leftover resources or subscriptions:
- Go directly to the Azure support creation blade:
Open:https://portal.azure.com/#create/Microsoft.Support(must be signed in to the Azure portal). - Start a Billing support request:
- In the “What do you need help with?” box, type billing and select Go.
- Choose Billing as the problem type, then select Next.
- Select the subscription that is being charged, then Next.
- Bypass the “self-help” suggestions so you can open a case:
- Wait a few seconds for the portal to show various “solutions” and help articles.
- At the top of that screen, select Create a support request.
- Do not click any of the suggested solutions.
- Fill in the support request details:
- On the first tab, enter a clear Summary such as:
“Unexpected Networking and Storage charges; no active resources visible; need billing investigation.” - Choose the closest Problem type and Problem subtype related to unexpected charges or invoice questions, then select Next.
- On the first tab, enter a clear Summary such as:
- Skip the second round of “solutions” and continue the case:
- After another delay, the portal again shows suggested solutions.
- Select Return to support request in the upper-left corner (do not click any solution tiles).
- Provide additional details and submit:
- On Additional details, describe:
- That Networking/Storage charges appear on the invoice or cost analysis.
- That no active resources are visible in the subscription.
- That attempts via “Assistance with Bill > Help understanding my invoice” did not allow opening a case.
- Paste the Subscription ID (copy it from the subscription blade in another tab).
- Proceed to Review + create and select Create.
- On Additional details, describe:
Billing support is free, and a billing engineer can:
- Walk through your invoices and Cost Management data.
- Identify which subscription, resource group, and resource types are generating Networking/Storage charges.
- Help locate any hidden/leftover resources, other tenants, or billing accounts that might still be incurring costs.
If the portal still does not show the billing account or subscription you expect, also verify:
- Signed in with the correct email/identity that has billing permissions (work vs personal account).
- Signed in to the correct directory/tenant via your profile > Switch directory.
If you continue to have trouble creating the ticket, use the same support blade and repeat the steps above, ensuring you always choose Billing and always click Create a support request / Return to support request instead of any suggested solution.
