Use the included 12‑month Microsoft 365 Personal offer in one of these supported ways:

1. Confirm what was actually included
   • On a new Windows PC, if Microsoft 365 was preinstalled, opening Word, Excel, or PowerPoint usually shows a “Let’s get started” screen with options to Try, Buy, or Activate Microsoft 365.
   • If the device truly includes a paid Microsoft 365 offer (not just a 1‑month trial), the activation is handled digitally and no printed product key is provided.
2. Check for a digital entitlement vs. trial
   • If you only see a 1‑month trial of Microsoft 365 Family, then the device may not actually include a 12‑month Personal subscription, only the trial.
   • If you paid for Microsoft 365 to be included with the PC, a digital product key is transmitted to the PC when Windows is activated. In that case, starting Word (or another Microsoft 365 app) should show a message that the purchase or free offer is ready to activate. 3. If the offer is a separate product key or card
   • If Argos/HP provided a Microsoft 365 product key card, carefully scratch the silver foil on the back to reveal the 25‑character key in the format XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
   • Then follow the instructions on the card (typically redeeming the key with a Microsoft account) to activate the 12‑month Microsoft 365 Personal subscription.
4. If “nothing happens” when claiming the offer
   • Make sure Windows is activated and that the device is connected to the internet.
   • Sign in with a Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com to confirm whether any Microsoft 365 subscription has been added under Services & subscriptions.
   • If no subscription appears and the in‑app activation still does nothing, contact the retailer (Argos) or HP support with proof that the device was sold with a 12‑month Microsoft 365 Personal offer so they can verify and, if needed, issue a valid entitlement or key.
5. How the free offer interacts with an existing subscription
   • If there is already a Microsoft 365 Family subscription on the same Microsoft account, redeeming a free Microsoft 365 Personal offer will prompt either:
     • Stay on Microsoft 365 Family and add extra time (typically 9 months), or
     • Switch to Microsoft 365 Personal and add 12 months. Switching to Personal removes the ability to share the subscription.

If activation screens or the offer link still do nothing after checking the above, support from the retailer or device manufacturer is required to validate the bundled 12‑month entitlement.
