Uninstalling Microsoft Defender on Android cannot be done from a Windows desktop; it must be removed directly on the Android device. However, Defender can be disconnected from the Defender dashboard and the app can then be uninstalled on the phone.
To remove the Android device from Microsoft Defender:
- On any device where Microsoft Defender is signed in (for example, the Windows PC), open Microsoft Defender.
- Go to the Other devices list by selecting View all from the dashboard, or the Other devices tab on the Device protection page.
- Swipe left on the Android device entry.
- Select the red trash can that appears on the right side of the device card.
- Confirm removal.
This removes the device and its Defender-related data from Microsoft Defender, but it does not uninstall the Defender app from the Android phone. To fully delete Defender, open the Android device itself and uninstall the Microsoft Defender app there using the normal Android app uninstall process.
