ACSR stalled since 2 May – Windows lockout, data at risk

Hello, I submitted the Account Recovery form (ACSR) on 2 May. There has been no progress, and attempts to update the form fail to save.

I am now locked out of my Windows laptop due to Windows Hello/PIN, and my Authenticator did not restore after changing phones. The device contains 10+ years of personal data, so there is a risk of permanent data loss.

I’m not asking to bypass security — I’m requesting manual review or escalation. Thank you.

Account recovery and Windows sign-in in this scenario are fully controlled by the automated systems; manual escalation or override by support or moderators is not available.

For the Microsoft account lockout and ACSR status:

    1. If the account recovery form was submitted and no success email was received, the request was either not verified or is still pending. After each submission, results are sent within about 24 hours to the working email address specified on the form.
    2. If the request was not granted, the form can be retried as many times as needed, up to two times per day. Before trying again, review the official guidance on how to fill out the recovery form carefully to maximize the chance of success.
    3. If the additional security info shown during recovery is not recognized, the Sign-In Helper tool should be used instead of the standard form.
    4. To protect the account and its contents, support agents and advocates cannot send password reset links, cannot access or change account details, and cannot manually unlock or escalate Microsoft account recovery.

For two-step verification / security info issues:

    1. If the password is known but access to all security info is lost, start a sign-in to the work or school account, and at the “Verify your identity” prompt select I don't have any of these, then follow the instructions to replace the security info. After replacement, there is a mandatory 30‑day wait before sign-in is allowed.
    2. If the password is not recognized and no security info is accessible, the only supported path is to use the Microsoft account recovery form and follow the documented process.

If previous recovery attempts have already hit daily limits or rate limits, no further action is possible until the cooldown period expires. Additional attempts during the lockout window can restart the cooldown, so it is important to wait the full period before trying again.

Because account recovery is strictly automated and support cannot intervene, there is no supported way to force a manual review or escalation beyond repeatedly and accurately completing the recovery form and using the Sign-In Helper when applicable.
