Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To request a refund for an unwanted Microsoft 365 (Office 365) renewal, first cancel the subscription, then check refund eligibility and, if needed, contact Microsoft Support.
- Cancel the Microsoft 365 subscription
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and sign in with the same Microsoft account that was charged.
- Find the Microsoft 365 subscription and select Manage.
- If it shows Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire and no further charges will occur.
- On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, depending on what appears).
- Scroll through and follow the on-screen instructions to complete cancellation.
- Check refund eligibility
- Refunds are not guaranteed for all cancellations. Eligibility depends on factors such as when the renewal occurred and regional policies.
- For Microsoft 365 subscriptions, use the refund self-help flow starting from the cancellation/refund guidance:
- For general refund rules and to start the process, see How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription and follow the Microsoft 365 path.
- If the subscription was purchased from Google Play or the Apple App Store, contact their support instead:
- Google Play: Learn about Google Play refund policies
- Apple App Store: Apple support
- If the charge is unrecognized or there are issues
- If the charge is not recognized or the online flow does not resolve it, contact Microsoft Support directly so an agent can review the billing on the account:
- Go to Contact Microsoft Support, describe the billing/refund issue, select Get Help, then choose Contact Support to reach a support agent (chat or callback, depending on availability).
- If the charge is not recognized or the online flow does not resolve it, contact Microsoft Support directly so an agent can review the billing on the account:
- Country-specific prorated refunds
- In some countries (for example, Canada, Israel, Korea, Turkey, and certain longer-term renewed subscriptions in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, and Portugal), cancellation may entitle to a prorated refund. Details are in Countries with prorated refunds for Microsoft subscriptions.
After cancellation and submission through the refund flow or support, the support team will confirm whether the renewed charge can be refunded and process it if eligible.
