The error AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity means the Azure AD tenant behind the account has been marked inactive and blocked. Payment setup on the subscription does not unblock a tenant.

Use these steps based on the documented resolutions:

    1. Confirm whether the tenant can still be reactivated
      • Tenants blocked for inactivity can be reactivated only within 20 days of entering the inactive state. After 20 days, the tenant is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
    2. If the tenant has been inactive less than 20 days
      • The tenant administrator must contact Microsoft support and request tenant reactivation. Use the global support phone numbers or create a support request as described in the tenant‑inactivity guidance from the Q&A references.
      • While the case is in progress, do not submit additional assistance requests for the same issue.
    3. Try direct sign-in to the tenant (if it is still present)
      • Browse to https://portal.azure.com/<TenantId> or https://portal.azure.com/<yourTenantName>.onmicrosoft.com using the same account to see if the portal opens for that specific tenant, then open a support request from there if possible.
    4. If the tenant has been blocked longer than 20 days
      • The tenant is permanently deleted and cannot be restored. In this case, create a new tenant:
        • Sign in to https://entra.microsoft.com/.
        • Go to Entra ID → Overview → Manage tenants and create a new tenant.
        • Note the new tenant’s domain name (for example, newtenant.onmicrosoft.com).
        • Then access the Azure portal with https://portal.azure.com/newtenant.onmicrosoft.com and use this tenant for Azure resources and AZ‑204 practice.
    5. If sign-in loops or uses the wrong account
      • Sign out of all Microsoft accounts in the browser and clear all site data/cookies, then try again, or use an InPrivate/Incognito window to avoid cached sessions.

If none of these steps restore access and the tenant is still within the 20‑day window, escalation through Microsoft support is required to unblock the tenant.
