The MSCVR80.dll error indicates a missing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package, which is necessary for Visio 2007, and W11 does not install it by default. Installing both x86 and x64 versions of the 2005 Redistributable Microsoft might fix this. Since O365 (click-to-run) is present, installing older MSI-based products (Visio 2007) requires specific installation steps.
Steps to Get Visio 2007 Running on Windows 11:
- Install Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable: Download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update (vcredist_x86.exe). If Visio 2007 is 32-bit (typical), you should install the x86 version, even on 64-bit W11. Installing both x86 and x64 is often best.
- Run as Administrator & Compatibility: Right-click
VISIO.EXE (usually found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\), select Properties > Compatibility. Check "Run this program as an administrator" and try setting it to "Windows 7" or "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".
- Repair Installation: If it still fails, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Visio 2007, and select Repair.
- Address O365/2007 Conflict: Since you have O365, the installation technology might conflict. If you face installation errors, try running the installer with
/r to perform a "repair" or uninstall O365 temporarily, install Visio, and then reinstall O365 Microsoft.
Since it runs on one laptop, you can try copying the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12 folder from the working laptop to the new one, but you will still need to install the 2005 Redistributables and likely register the DLLs manually
