Switching subscription to Workplace Discount

Switching to Workplace Discount pricing does not require canceling the existing Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, and using the same Microsoft account means OneDrive files and documents remain available.

When purchasing Microsoft 365 through the Microsoft Workplace Discount Program using the same Microsoft account already associated with the current Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, additional time is added to the existing subscription and the discounted rate begins at the existing subscription’s renewal date. There is no need to cancel first, and there is no impact on stored content because the account and its OneDrive remain the same.

To proceed:

1. Go to the Microsoft Workplace Discount Program site and complete the purchase using the same Microsoft account currently used for the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription.
2. The remaining days on the current subscription will automatically convert and be added to the new term, and the discounted rate will apply from the next renewal.

All existing OneDrive documents and other Microsoft 365 data stay tied to the same Microsoft account, so no extra admin is required beyond purchasing via the Workplace Discount Program with that account.
