Both Outlook.com addresses are Microsoft accounts, and each one must be recovered separately using the official self-service tools. Direct manual unlock by forum moderators or support agents is not possible; account recovery is automated.

Follow these steps for each locked account (yours and your wife’s):

    1. Try standard sign-in/unlock
      • Go to https://account.microsoft.com and attempt to sign in with the locked email address.
      • If prompted that the account is locked, follow the on-screen steps to get a security code.
      • You can use any phone number that can receive SMS; it does not need to be associated with the account and does not need to be a smartphone.
      • Enter the code and, if requested, create a new strong password.
    2. If Outlook.com specifically says the mailbox is blocked
      • Use the Sign-in Helper flow described in Unblock my Outlook.com account: select the Sign-in Helper link and follow the prompts to unblock the Outlook.com account.
    3. If codes or attempts are rate-limited / “too many attempts”
      • If password resets, security codes, or recovery attempts are blocked due to too many tries, stop all attempts and wait at least 24 hours (a full day) before trying again. Further attempts during this period can reset the cooldown.
    4. If normal reset options do not work
      • Use the Microsoft account recovery form at https://account.live.com/acsr (via the “I can’t sign in” or “I don’t have any of these” options) and provide as much accurate information as possible (past passwords, recent email subjects, contacts, etc.).
      • If the daily submission limit is reached, wait until the next day before submitting again.
    5. If still unable to sign in
      • For Outlook.com, follow the guidance under When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account linked from the Outlook.com unblock article.
      • If needed, sign in with any working Microsoft account (including a newly created one) and contact Microsoft Support via the support contact flow referenced in the Q&A answers to get help with the recovery process and the recovery form. Support cannot bypass security checks but can guide through the process.

Because both original accounts are locked, linking them to a new account will not bypass the lock; each locked account must be recovered individually using the steps above.
