My Account has been hacked

Follow these steps immediately to try to recover and secure the Microsoft account that is now showing the unknown …@chemoprophymail.ru address.

1. Scan the PC for malware before changing any passwords
   • On Windows 11, open Start and search for Windows Defender (Windows Security).
   • Turn on malware protection and run a full scan of the system.
   • Ensure virus definitions are up to date and configure regular automatic scans.
2. Use the official hacked-account recovery flow
   • Go to the Microsoft hacked/compromised account troubleshooter: Start.
   • Enter the email address or phone number originally used for the Microsoft account (not the attacker’s .ru address).
   • The tool will either present self‑help options (including the account recovery form) or offer a way to contact an agent, depending on the scenario.
3. If sign‑in fails, submit the account recovery form
   • From the troubleshooter or the standard sign‑in page, choose Forgot my password and then I think someone else is using my Microsoft account.
   • Fill in the recovery form with as much accurate information as possible (old passwords, devices used, Xbox/Minecraft purchases, etc.).
   • If no result email arrives, try again from an InPrivate/Incognito browser session and, if possible, from a different device and network, then check inbox, junk, and spam folders for the response.
   If the recovery form repeatedly fails and the attacker has fully replaced the security info (email/phone, verification methods), there is no additional method for Microsoft Support to restore that personal Microsoft account.
4. If access is regained, immediately secure the account
   After successful recovery and sign‑in:
   • Change the password to a new, strong one using the Change password option.
   • Review and remove any unknown aliases or email addresses from Manage how you sign in.
   • Check connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies settings in Outlook.com to remove anything the attacker added.
   • Add secure verification methods (such as Microsoft Authenticator) and review all security info.
5. Review unusual activity
   • Sign in to the Security basics page and select Review activity to open the Recent activity page.
   • For any sign‑ins that are not recognized, select This wasn’t me or Secure your account as shown, and follow the guided steps.
6. If the account cannot be recovered
   • If the recovery form and hacked‑account troubleshooter cannot restore access and the attacker’s security info has fully replaced the original, the account is considered unrecoverable.
   • In that case, create a new Microsoft account, secure it with strong security info, and then work with Xbox/Minecraft support separately to see whether any game entitlements can be moved or otherwise addressed.
