To reinstate an MSN Premium subscription that was cancelled because of an outdated payment method, first resolve the payment issue on the Microsoft account, then repurchase/renew the subscription if needed.
- Pay any past-due balance
- Go to Services & subscriptions at https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account that was used for MSN Premium.
- Locate the past-due subscription (if it still appears) and select Pay now.
- When prompted, review the payment method and either update it (for example, new expiration date) or add a new payment method.
- Select Next to complete the payment.
Note: Gift cards, subscription cards, or Microsoft account balance cannot be used to pay a past-due subscription.
- Fix or add a payment method for future billing
- If changing payment options causes errors, follow the guidance in Troubleshoot payment option issues:
- Add or update the payment method from the Services & subscriptions page.
- If a message appears to contact support when removing a payment option, there may still be a past-due balance that must be paid first.
- If using PayPal, ensure it has a valid funding source (credit card or confirmed bank account) and that the card is not expired and has sufficient funds.
- If the subscription no longer appears
If MSN Premium no longer shows under Services & subscriptions after cancellation, purchase/activate it again using the updated payment method on the same Microsoft account. If there are issues locating the subscription or charges, use the billing-support paths from the payment troubleshooting article and contact Microsoft Support for account-specific help.
