Can't log in to Outlook for 2 days straight, no 'fix' has worked!

Note, I had to make an entirely NEW email to do this since I can't post without signing in, which I can't do because I can't get into my main account.

About two days ago, I noticed that I was kicked out of my email account on my desktop (W10). I tried to log in but it said I had too many attempts even though it was the first time and I had put in the password correctly. Tried to reset my password, but when I tried to do the text for 2FA, it wouldn't send the text portion, saying "this method is currently unavailable" or something like that. I let it sit for a day and tried to log in, but the same result.

I was still logged in on my laptop (W11), but soon it also kicked me out of there.

My only saving grace is that I'm still logged in on my iphone, but who knows how long that will last.

There's absolutely no way to chat with someone and no phone to call. It's stressful because a lot of stuff goes through that email and that's why I pretty much have two methods of recovery on top of the password.

I've found tutorials and 'fixes' that were recommended, from: restarting all the devices, clearing all the cache/cookies/browsing/making sure everything was updated, using a VPN, using my phone as a hot spot, being in an entirely different location (taking my laptop to the local library), trying different internet browswers ...

I saw someone mentioned I might be locked out because of weird activity but I monitor all my sign-ins and see all the unsuccessful attempts, and since I don't send any emails claiming to be a Dubai prince I don't really see 'strange activity' happening. Within the last 4 days, I had updated the password because I'd forgotten it for the millionth time, and it was only the day before yesterday that this has become something from an annoying issue to a rage inducing one since I can't get it solved over chat or phone and someone TELL ME why my email is locked down ... which I'm guessing is the reason it's happening. One 'fix' I saw said to wait a week and that might fix it if it's not permanent, but how would I know if it was and how can I fix this???

No matter if I do it from a W10 desktop, W11 laptop, or iphone 17 browser it's all the same, and I've probably turbo locked it from trying so much but I'm at my wit's end. I just want access back into my email that I was wrongfully locked out of.

Based on the symptoms ("too many attempts" even on correct password, 2FA SMS method unavailable, repeated failures over 2 days, and now being signed out on all devices except iPhone), the account is very likely in a temporarily blocked or protected state due to suspicious activity or repeated sign‑in/reset attempts.

Use the following steps, in order, and avoid repeated retries in between:

    1. Stop trying to sign in for at least 24 hours
From similar cases, repeated attempts can extend the lockout. The guidance is to:
      • Refrain from any sign‑in attempts for at least 24 hours (preferably a bit longer to be safe).
      • Do not keep retrying password or 2FA during this period.
    2. While still signed in on iPhone: review and adjust sign‑in options
Since access still exists on iPhone:
      • Go to the Microsoft account security/sign‑in settings from the signed‑in session.
      • Check if there is another way to sign in configured (alternate email, different phone, Microsoft Authenticator).
      • If possible, add or confirm additional sign‑in methods (e.g., another phone number, alternate email, or Authenticator app) so there is at least one working method besides the problematic SMS.
    3. After the wait, try a different sign‑in method first
When the 24+ hours have passed:
      • On the password page, check for an option like “Sign in with another method” or similar.
      • If available, choose a different verification method (email code, Authenticator, etc.) instead of the phone method that shows “this method is currently unavailable.”
    4. If sign‑in still fails: treat it as a blocked Outlook.com account
If after waiting and trying alternate methods the account still will not let you in or continues to behave as blocked:
      • Use the official Sign‑in Helper flow for blocked Outlook.com/Microsoft accounts: Sign-in Helper.
      • This is the supported path when Outlook.com detects unusual sign‑in activity and temporarily blocks the account.
    5. If the account cannot be unblocked via Sign‑in Helper
If unblocking fails (for example, codes cannot be entered or the system still refuses access):
      • Follow the guidance under “When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account” from the unblock article. This path helps with:
        • Resetting the password again (if needed).
        • Handling cases where password reset does not work.
        • Getting to a link to contact support for further review.
    6. If the system indicates the account is blocked or access is restricted long‑term
For cases where the account appears blocked for suspicious activity even after the above:
      • Fill out the Request for Account Reinstatement form referenced in the similar Q&A case. Provide as much accurate information as possible about the account and usage.
      • Continue to avoid repeated sign‑in attempts while waiting for the review.
    7. If still stuck after all of the above
      • From the iPhone session (while it still works), back up any critical data that can be accessed (for example, attachments downloaded locally, important information copied out).
      • Use the support/contact options linked from the Outlook.com and Microsoft account help pages (for example, via Account & Billing Help or How to get Outlook.com support) to open a support request, selecting topics like “Password reset or account recovery” or “Outlook.com account blocked.”

    Key points:

    • Avoid further rapid sign‑in attempts; they can prolong the lock.
    • Use the still‑signed‑in iPhone session to strengthen recovery options.
    • Use Sign‑in Helper and, if needed, the Request for Account Reinstatement path if the account remains blocked.
