Office 2024 install returns a "Configuration file was specified" error

I'm trying to install Office 2024 on a new ThinkPad P16s. The Setup error message I get is: "Couldn't install The configuration file wasn't specified. Error Code: 0-2054 (0). This copy of Office 2024 was purchased from Daily Steals. Initially I had a different error -- the Setup would simply fail and close itself with no error message. I've 'progressed' to a real error message.

I downloaded the ISO image from Daily Steals and tried to install first from a USB drive and then from a DVD. Neither worked. Thoughts?

The error indicates that the installer expects a configuration file (typical for volume or enterprise deployments) and cannot proceed without it. This usually happens when trying to install a volume-license or enterprise build of Office using incomplete or incorrect media.

For home use, Office 2024 should be installed from a supported Microsoft source tied to the Microsoft account used to redeem the product, not from a third‑party ISO that requires a deployment configuration.

To resolve:

Verify that the PC meets the system requirements for Office 2024. If the operating system is unsupported (for example, Windows XP or Vista), installation will fail. The supported systems are listed on the Office system requirements page.
Do not use the ISO from the retailer. Instead, sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the purchase and follow the official steps to download and install Office 2024 as described in Download, install, or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac.
