A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
Phone support cannot be provided here, but some checks can be done to resolve missing codes when signing in.
- If SharePoint is asking for a verification code by email (for a secure sharing link):
- Ask the sender which email address the link was shared to.
- Check that mailbox’s Junk/Spam folder for the message that contains the verification code.
- If nothing is found, wait a few minutes and try the link again so a new code is sent, then recheck Junk/Spam.
- If SharePoint sign-in is using Microsoft Authenticator push or code and nothing appears in the app:
- If an older phone still has Microsoft Authenticator installed and signed in, the push notification may be going there instead of the current phone. Open Authenticator on the old device and approve the sign-in if possible.
- If the old device is no longer available, try using another verification method offered on the sign-in screen (for example SMS or email code) if those are configured for the account.
- If none of the above works and this is a work or school account:
- Contact the organization’s IT admin or help desk and ask them to reset the MFA methods or clear the sign-in settings so Authenticator can be re-registered.
For personal Microsoft accounts, additional troubleshooting for verification codes and Authenticator behavior is available in the linked documentation below.
