How do I access the live chat?

To reach a live Microsoft support agent for Microsoft 365/Office, use one of these supported paths and always continue through to “Contact support” or “Chat with an agent” when offered.

1. On a Windows PC using Get Help
2. Open the Get Help app (type Get Help in the Windows search box and open it).
3. In Get Help, type a short description like “Microsoft 365 billing problem” or “Office won’t install”.
4. When results appear, scroll to the bottom and select Contact Support.
5. Choose the affected product/service (for example, Microsoft 365 & Office).
6. Confirm any additional options, then select Confirm.
7. When asked how to be contacted, choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser. A browser window opens and connects to a live agent.
8. From the Microsoft Support website (virtual agent → live agent)
9. Go to the main Microsoft Support site.
10. Select Get Help.
11. When the virtual agent starts, type a phrase such as “Talk to a person”, “Agent”, or “Chat with an agent”.
12. When prompted, choose Chat (or Call me back if chat is not available in your region).
13. From Outlook.com (for consumer Outlook/Hotmail issues)
14. Sign in at outlook.com.
15. At the top, select Help in the ribbon, then Help again (first option).
16. In the pane on the right, describe the issue.
17. If the suggested articles do not help, scroll to the bottom and select Yes under Still need help?.
18. Select Chat with a support agent in your web browser, fill in the details, and confirm to open a live chat session.
19. If chat is not offered Chat availability depends on product, subscription, and support hours. If chat does not appear:

• In Get Help, choose the Provide your phone number and a support agent will call you option instead.
• On the web, use the Call me back or phone option if presented.

Following these paths and always choosing Contact Support → Chat with an agent (or equivalent) is the supported way to bypass self-help articles and reach a live person.
