Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Follow these steps in order, using only official Microsoft flows. Since the email, password, and security info were changed, recovery may be difficult, but these are the only supported options.
- Run through the hacked-account recovery guide Use the official guide for compromised Microsoft accounts:
- Go to How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account and follow the steps there: scan devices for malware, then use the recovery options to try to regain access.
- If you can still sign in in any way (old device, cached session, etc.), immediately change the password and remove any unknown security info, aliases, or “allay”/linked accounts.
- Use the Sign‑in Helper / account recovery form Because the hacker changed the sign‑in details and removed your access, use the automated recovery tools:
- Open the Sign-in Helper for hacked account issues: Open the Sign-in Helper for support options or hacked account issues.
- This will route to the account recovery form. Fill in every detail you still know about the old account (old password, approximate creation date, any billing info that was ever attached, etc.).
- If the form is rejected, try again from a different device and network, and make sure all answers are as accurate and detailed as possible.
Important:
- If the hacker fully replaced the security info and the recovery form keeps failing, the account may be unrecoverable. In that case, Microsoft Support cannot override the automated decision or manually restore the account.
- If the account shows “security info change pending” If you ever see a message like “Your security info change is still pending” when trying to sign in:
- On that screen, use the built‑in links:
- Cancel this request if you started the change and still have access to the old security info.
- Let us know if you did not make the change. This triggers the “unauthorized change” flow.
- If the account is locked and you don’t see “Next” when signing in If, when trying to sign in, there is no Next button and a message that the account is locked:
- Select the aka.ms/ link shown in that window.
- Fill in the reinstatement form. A Microsoft Online Safety agent will review it and contact by email.
- Do not submit multiple forms; that can slow down the response.
- Understand limits for hacked accounts From Microsoft’s own guidance and community answers:
- If the hacker has changed the email, password, and all security info, and the recovery form does not accept the information provided, there is no other supported method to get the Microsoft account back.
- Support agents cannot bypass security, send custom reset links, or manually prove ownership outside the official forms.
- Minecraft‑specific next steps If the Microsoft account cannot be recovered:
- Contact Minecraft Support using the official Minecraft support link from the context to ask if there is any alternative for the Minecraft license tied to that account. Provide purchase proof (receipt, code from the reseller, etc.) when requested.
- There is no guarantee they can move or restore the license, but they are the only channel that can review Minecraft‑side options.
- Protect the new account and devices For the new Microsoft account just created (with the same email name):
- Make sure the PC and phone are clean by running a full antivirus scan (Windows Defender on Windows 10/11: open Start → search for Windows Defender and follow the instructions).
- Use a strong password and add secure verification methods (e.g., Microsoft Authenticator) so that future attacks are harder.
If the recovery form eventually succeeds and access to the old account is restored, immediately:
- Change the password.
- Remove any unknown aliases, security info, and devices.
- Review connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies to ensure nothing is redirecting mail or access.
