To confirm which version is installed and fix the mismatch between 2019 and 2024 branding, use these steps.

1. Check the actual installed version in an app
   1. Open Word (or Excel/PowerPoint).
   2. Select File > Account.
   3. Under Product Information, check the product name (for example, Office 2024, Office 2021, Office 2019) and the version/build number.
   4. For more detail, select About Word (or About Excel) to see the full version and bitness.
   This screen is the authoritative place to see what version is installed, regardless of what the earlier license prompt showed.
2. Be aware of the known 2024/earlier-version display issue There is a known issue where Office 2024 can appear as an earlier version (such as Office 2021) in the app backstage when the account has licenses for multiple versions. A similar symptom can occur with OEM/pre‑installed Office on new PCs. Recommended resolution:

      • Close all Office apps.
