How do i get a new qr code for my authenticator app on a new iphone

To get a new QR code for Microsoft Authenticator on a new iPhone, a new sign-in method needs to be added for the account, then that QR code is scanned with the Authenticator app on the iPhone.

For a personal Microsoft account:

1. On a computer, go to the Microsoft account Security page: https://account.microsoft.com/security and sign in.
2. Select Manage how I sign in to see the ways to prove identity.
3. Select Add a new way to sign in or verify.
4. Choose Use an app.
5. If Authenticator is already installed on the iPhone, select Set up a different Authenticator app, then select Next to display a new QR code on the screen.
6. On the iPhone, open the Microsoft Authenticator app and tap the + icon.
7. Select Personal account, then tap Scan a QR Code and scan the QR code shown on the computer.
   • If the camera cannot be used, on the computer select I can't scan the bar code, and on the phone choose Enter code manually and follow the prompts.

For work or school (Microsoft 365) accounts, the admin may instead require re-registration of MFA so that a new QR code is shown during sign-in setup. After that, the new QR code is scanned in the same way from the Authenticator app on the iPhone.

If Microsoft Authenticator is not yet installed on the iPhone, install it first from the Apple App Store using the instructions in the download article, then follow the steps above to add the account and scan the new QR code.
