Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To receive a credit for an unwanted Microsoft 365 personal subscription, the personal subscription must first be canceled, then refund eligibility can be checked.
- Cancel the Microsoft 365 personal subscription:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and sign in with the same personal Microsoft account that was charged.
- Find the Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium subscription under Services & subscriptions and select Manage.
- If Turn on recurring billing is shown instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire on the listed date and will not be charged again.
- On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, depending on what appears).
- Follow the prompts and confirm cancellation.
- Check refund eligibility and request a credit:
- For Microsoft 365 subscriptions purchased from Microsoft, canceling first is required to check refund eligibility for the charge (for example, the $105.99).
- After cancellation, the system will indicate whether a refund is available based on region, subscription type, and timing.
- In certain countries (such as Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and Turkey), canceling may entitle to a prorated refund depending on subscription length and renewal status. Details are in the refund policy linked from the refund article.
- If the subscription was purchased through a mobile app store:
- If the personal Microsoft 365 subscription was bought via Google Play or Apple App Store, cancellation and refund must be requested from those stores directly, not from Microsoft:
- Google Play: see Learn about Google Play refund policies.
- Apple App Store: request a refund from Apple support.
- If the personal Microsoft 365 subscription was bought via Google Play or Apple App Store, cancellation and refund must be requested from those stores directly, not from Microsoft:
If additional help is needed with the refund after cancellation (for example, if the automatic process does not offer a refund), contact Microsoft Billing Support and provide the account and charge details so they can review the transaction.
