Cancel teams subscription

To cancel Microsoft Teams-related subscriptions and accounts, there are two main scenarios:

1. Cancel Teams app subscriptions purchased inside Microsoft Teams
   Use this if there are paid apps or services subscribed to from within Teams.
   1. Open Microsoft Teams.
   2. Select Apps > Manage your apps.
   3. Select the Subscriptions tab.
   4. Find the app subscription to cancel and select More options … > View subscription.
   5. Select Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
   Notes:
   • Only subscriptions that were personally purchased can be managed or canceled.
   • For additional actions like editing billing profile or recurring billing, select Manage more in Microsoft 365 admin center from the subscription details.
2. Cancel Microsoft subscriptions tied to the Teams account (e.g., Microsoft 365)
   Use this if Teams access comes from a Microsoft 365 or other Microsoft subscription.
   1. Go to Subscriptions at https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account used to buy the subscription.
   2. Under Services & subscriptions, find the subscription that provides Teams (for example, Microsoft 365).
   3. Select Manage.
      • If Turn on recurring billing is shown instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire on the listed date and will not renew; no further action is required.
   4. On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, then choose Cancel).
   5. Follow the on-screen steps to complete cancellation.
   If there is no option to cancel or turn off recurring billing:
   • Confirm the subscription was purchased directly from Microsoft and not via a third party (such as Amazon, Best Buy, Google Play, or Apple App Store). If it was purchased through a third party, cancellation and refunds must be handled with that provider.
   • Make sure the correct Microsoft personal account is being used to sign in.
   • If Turn on recurring billing is displayed, the subscription will end automatically on the shown date.
   • If money is owed (for example, due to an expired payment card), pay any overdue balance first; cancellation is blocked until the account is current.
3. Close the Microsoft account used for Teams Free (optional, and more drastic)
   If using Microsoft Teams Free and the goal is to completely close the underlying Microsoft account (this affects all Microsoft services, not just Teams):
   • Be aware that closing the Microsoft account will also remove access to Outlook.com, OneDrive, Skype, Xbox Live, Windows sign-in with that account, and other consumer services.
   • Before closing the account, follow the steps in How to close your Microsoft account and optionally export important Teams data, such as contacts and conversation history.
   • When ready:
     1. Go to the Microsoft account closure page.
     2. Sign in with the Microsoft account used for Teams Free (or verify the password if prompted).
     3. Follow the guided steps to close the account.
   • On mobile, the closure process can also be started from the Teams app: tap the profile picture > Settings > scroll down and tap Delete account.
