To use Microsoft 365 Family on the PC, the subscription must be linked to a Microsoft account and the install started from that account.

Follow these steps on the PC:

1. Confirm the subscription type
   • If the purchase on the iPad was Microsoft 365 Family, it includes the right to install Office apps on PCs.
   • If it was Microsoft 365 Basic, that plan does not include desktop apps; it only provides OneDrive storage and web apps, and the desktop install will not work.
2. Sign in with the correct Microsoft account
   • On the PC, open a browser and go to https://www.office.com.
   • Select Sign in and use the same Microsoft account that was used to buy Microsoft 365 Family on the iPad.
3. Start the installation
   • After signing in, select Apps on the left (if shown).
   • In the upper-right corner, select Install apps.
   • This downloads the installer file.
   • When the download finishes, run the file and follow the prompts to install the desktop apps.
4. If the Install button does not work
   • If the Install button is grayed out, the subscription may not be active or may not be a plan that includes desktop apps. Check the subscription status at the Microsoft account services page.
   • If nothing happens when selecting Install, try:
     • Using the Run option at the bottom of the browser window when prompted, or
     • Opening a New InPrivate window (or incognito/private window), going to https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps, signing in with the Microsoft account, and selecting Install again.

If the account only has Microsoft 365 Basic, desktop installation is not available; use the web apps at https://microsoft365.com instead, or upgrade to Microsoft 365 Personal or Family.
