Administrator Account and Password

On that PC, administrator passwords or account names cannot be “looked up” or revealed. The only supported options are:

1. Check whether the current account is already an administrator
   On the PC (if it can be signed in at all):

• Select Start > Settings > Account > Your info.
• The page shows whether the signed-in user is an administrator. If it is, the password can be changed for other local accounts as described below.

2. Reset another local account’s password from an existing administrator account
   If any administrator account can still be signed in to (for example, a different profile your brother remembers):
3. Open Computer Management.
4. Expand Local Users and Groups > Users.
5. Right-click the user that needs a new password and select Set Password....
6. Enter and confirm the new password.
7. If no administrator password is known
   If no administrator account can be accessed at all, Windows does not provide a way to recover or bypass the unknown administrator password. In that case, the supported option is to reset the PC, which reinstalls Windows and lets a new administrator account be created during setup. This can result in loss of installed apps and, depending on the reset option chosen, user data on the device.

For a completely locked-down machine with no working admin credentials, contacting the original owner or organization that set up the PC (if it was ever joined to a domain or managed environment) is the only way to regain legitimate administrative access without resetting.
