The symptoms indicate a billing or account mismatch that must be checked directly in the Microsoft account and, if needed, by Microsoft Support/Billing. Use these steps:

    1. Confirm which Microsoft account is tied to the paid subscription
      • Go to https://account.microsoft.com and sign in with the Microsoft account that should own Microsoft 365 Family.
      • If there are multiple possible accounts (different email addresses), sign out and try each one. The subscription may be under a different Microsoft account than expected.
    2. Check Services & subscriptions and payment status
      • After signing in, go to Services & subscriptions (or Payment & billing → Microsoft 365) and review:
        • Whether a Microsoft 365 Family subscription is listed.
        • Its status (Active, Expired, Past due, Suspended) and expiration/renewal date.
      • If the subscription shows expired in 2020 or no recent renewal, then the November 2025 charge on the Visa is not being recognized on this account.
    3. Investigate a past-due or missing payment
      • If the subscription shows Past due or similar and you are getting “payment due” or “Account Notice” emails, follow the guidance to clear any past-due balance:
        • Sign in to Services & subscriptions at https://account.microsoft.com/services.
        • Find any past-due subscription and select Pay now.
        • Verify or update the payment method, then complete payment.
      • If the subscription is expired and not renewed there, the November Visa charge may belong to a different Microsoft account or a different Microsoft service.
    4. Compare Visa charge with Microsoft account
      • On the Visa statement, note:
        • Exact date and amount of the November 2025 charge.
        • Merchant description (e.g., “MICROSOFT*SUBSCRIPTION” or similar).
      • While signed in to https://account.microsoft.com, check Order history and Services & subscriptions for a matching charge or subscription. If nothing matches, the payment is not associated with this signed-in account.
    5. If the account still shows expired or no activity
      • If:
        • The Microsoft 365 Family subscription still shows expired 2020 or is missing, and
        • The Visa clearly shows a November 2025 Microsoft 365 renewal charge,
      • Then this requires direct review by Microsoft Billing/Support because only they can see which account or subscription that payment is attached to and correct the status.
Use the official support path for consumer Microsoft 365:
      • Go to the Microsoft Support site and choose Microsoft 365 & Office → Manage my subscription.
      • Use Chat with a support agent or request a call.
      • Provide:
        • The Microsoft account(s) you use.
        • Screenshot or details of the Visa charge (date, amount, last 4 digits of card, merchant line).
      • Ask them to confirm:
        • Which account that payment is tied to.
        • Whether it was applied as a renewal for Microsoft 365 Family.
        • To correct the subscription status if it should be active.
    6. If Office apps show “Account Notice” or “subscription” warnings
      • If Word/Excel/Outlook show a yellow bar like “ACCOUNT NOTICE. We’ve run into a problem with your Microsoft 365 subscription” or “Buy/Renew/Reactivate”:
        • First ensure the subscription is actually Active in Services & subscriptions as above.
        • If it is active but apps still warn, follow the subscription-notice guidance and, if needed, contact support from there.

Because the account page shows “expired 2020” while the card shows a 2025 payment, the most likely causes are:

    • The renewal was made under a different Microsoft account than the one being checked, or
    • The payment is stuck/not correctly applied and must be fixed by Microsoft Billing.

Resolving it requires confirming the correct Microsoft account and then having Microsoft Support align the payment with the subscription so the status updates from expired to active and the payment-due emails stop.
