how to merge accounts

There is no way to merge or combine Microsoft accounts, including those with Microsoft 365 Family subscriptions. Subscriptions, purchases, data, and settings cannot be merged or transferred between accounts.

What can be done instead:

1. Keep using both accounts side by side
   • Sign in separately with each account where needed (for example, in Outlook, OneDrive, or Windows) and switch between them as required.
   • Multiple accounts can be added to Outlook so mail and calendars from both accounts are visible together. See: Add an email account to Outlook for Windows.
2. Share the Microsoft 365 Family subscription
   • If the Family subscription is on the “old” account, it can be shared with the “personal” account so that the personal account gets the premium benefits, but the accounts remain separate. See: Share your Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
3. Use OneDrive to move/copy files
   • Files from one account’s OneDrive can be copied or dragged into the other account’s OneDrive, but the storage and accounts remain separate. See: How do I merge my OneDrive for home with my OneDrive for work or school.
4. Use both accounts on devices and in Edge
   • Add both accounts on a Windows PC so each has its own sign-in, files, and settings.
   • Create separate profiles in Microsoft Edge for each account and switch between them as needed.

There is no supported method to fully merge the two Microsoft identities into one or to consolidate all subscriptions and historical data under a single sign-in.
