To cancel a personal Microsoft 365 subscription that is no longer needed:

1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365.
2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to purchase the subscription (this must be the correct account for the subscription being canceled).
3. Locate the Microsoft 365 subscription under Services & subscriptions and select Manage.
   • If instead of Manage there is a link Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and no further action is required.
4. Select Cancel subscription (it may appear as Upgrade or Cancel), then follow the prompts.
5. On the cancel page, review the Please review section and any additional information, then choose I don't want my subscription to confirm cancellation.

After cancellation of a Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium subscription, the storage allowance reverts to 5 GB of cloud storage (shared by OneDrive and Outlook.com attachments) and 15 GB of Outlook.com mailbox storage. If more than the free allowance is in use, uploading/syncing new OneDrive files and sending/receiving Outlook.com email will stop, and OneDrive content may be deleted after 6 months.

To check refund eligibility for the canceled subscription, sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 with the purchasing account, cancel the subscription as above, and then follow the refund guidance in the referenced article. In some countries (including Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and Turkey), canceling may qualify for a prorated refund depending on subscription length.

If the subscription was purchased through Google Play or the Apple App Store, cancellation and any refund must be requested through their support channels, not through the Microsoft account portal.
