Managing personal Outlook.com account settings, security, and privacy
For a third‑party email organizer to access Outlook/Windows email, both Windows privacy settings and the Outlook app’s own privacy settings must allow email/calendar access.
On Windows 10, first confirm system privacy settings:
- Open Start > Settings.
- Go to Privacy.
- Select Email.
- Set Let apps access and send email to On.
- In the same Privacy area, select Calendar.
- Set Let apps access my calendar to On.
If the organizer relies on the Windows Mail/Calendar platform, these switches must be enabled or it will be blocked from reading or sending email and accessing calendar data.
Next, check Outlook’s own privacy controls (if using Outlook apps):
- New Outlook for Windows: open Outlook, then Settings > General > Privacy and data > Privacy settings. Make sure options that disable services which download or analyze content are not turned off if the organizer depends on those cloud‑backed services.
- Outlook for Android/iOS: open Outlook, then Settings > General > Privacy Settings. If the primary account is Outlook.com, Gmail, Yahoo, IMAP, or POP3, verify that services which download or analyze content in Microsoft 365 are not disabled if the organizer needs that functionality.
If any of these privacy toggles are set to block email/calendar access or connected services, the third‑party organizer will not be able to reach Outlook data even if cookies and browser settings are correct.
