Authenticator app

Try these steps in order:

1. Confirm notifications are allowed for Microsoft Authenticator:
   • Go to your phone’s Settings → Notifications.
   • Find Microsoft Authenticator and ensure notifications are enabled (banners/alerts, sound or vibration).
2. Check if the app is closed or in Do Not Disturb/Quiet mode:
   • Make sure the phone is not in Do Not Disturb/Quiet mode.
   • If you get notifications only when the app is open, enable sound/vibration for Authenticator notifications.
3. Verify other apps can receive notifications:
   • If no apps receive notifications, fix the phone’s network or notification channel (Android/Apple) issues first, possibly with help from the mobile provider.
4. Check if only some accounts fail:
   • If some accounts in Authenticator receive notifications and others do not, remove the problematic account from the app and add it again, allowing notifications during setup.
5. Ensure time and app version are correct:
   • Set the device clock to automatic date/time and restart the phone.
   • Install the latest version of Microsoft Authenticator from the official store.
6. If you see “Authentication did not complete” or similar:
   • Unlock the Authenticator app before approving.
   • Make sure the phone has internet (try switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data).

If none of this helps and you still cannot get notifications, use an alternative verification method (such as SMS or verification codes) if available, or contact Support/your IT admin depending on whether this is a personal or work/school account.
