To stop being billed and effectively “delete” use of the account, cancel the active Microsoft 365 subscription and turn off recurring billing. If sign-in is possible, do this first; if not, use the payment provider route.

    1. Go to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account that is being charged.
    3. Under Subscriptions, locate the Microsoft 365 subscription.
    4. Select Manage.
    5. Turn off recurring billing if it is on.
    6. Use the Cancel option for the subscription and follow the prompts.

If cancellation is not working or the account cannot be accessed:

    1. Follow the step-by-step cancellation guidance in the article “Cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription” referenced in the Q&A answers.
    2. If still being charged after cancellation, check:
      • The cancellation date was at least 2 days before the billing date.
      • The correct Microsoft account is being used. Go again to https://account.microsoft.com/services and verify the subscription end date.
    3. If the wrong Microsoft account might be involved, use the Manage your payments page from the billing article to investigate which account is tied to the charge.
    4. If access to the account truly is not possible (no credentials, no recovery options), contact the bank or card issuer and request that they block or dispute the recurring Microsoft charge. This is explicitly recommended in the Q&A when account access is not available.

Deleting or closing the Microsoft account itself is separate from canceling the subscription. Canceling the subscription stops future billing; the Microsoft account can remain if needed for other services. If the account is no longer needed at all, follow the How to close your Microsoft account article (linked from the Q&A and Teams/Skype closure articles) after subscriptions are canceled.

If double charges or multiple subscriptions exist under different email addresses (for example, one Outlook and one Gmail), sign in to each Microsoft account at https://account.live.com or https://account.microsoft.com/services, cancel the unwanted subscription(s), and keep only the one that should remain active.

If online steps fail or more help is needed, contact Microsoft Billing Support as described in the Q&A answer (via the support contact page, choosing Microsoft 365 → Billing and Payment updates → chat with a support agent) so an agent can review the billing on the account.
