Can't open office desktops apps

I purchased this computer with a lifetime subscription to microsoft office but I can only login to office 365 online, but none of the desktop applications will open. I try to click on saved office files and get a message suggesting I fix the issue, but nothing ever gets fixed. I have tried to download the applications multiple times.
