Muck up with account billing in 2024 - and still no response despite numerous attempts

In Oct 2024, I was charged a new billing rate substantially more than previous.

In Dec, an apology was sent about the process and I was offered to go back on the original rate if I clicked the button. I did click the button -it was an invalid link.
I have email literally 20-30 times since 2024, I have left requests for callbacks, I have tried to wait for the chatline to respond... But NEVER has anyone (Human or AI) responded and I am still being charged the expensive rate.

HOW do I get someone to respond?

Cheers

Becky

For unresolved Microsoft 365 home subscription billing issues where prior emails, callback requests, and chat attempts have not produced any response, direct contact with Microsoft’s official billing/support channels is required, as community forums and Q&A sites cannot access or change account billing.

Use these steps to escalate and reach an actual support agent:

    1. Verify the charge and subscription
      • Sign in to the Microsoft account used for the subscription at the Subscriptions/Services area: https://account.microsoft.com/services (from the context).
      • Confirm which Microsoft 365 subscription is active and what recurring amount is being charged.
      • Check the payment history and note: dates, amounts, and any change in plan or price.
    2. Investigate the billing issue formally
      • Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select “Investigate” for the relevant charge, as described in the billing article. This starts Microsoft’s standard investigation flow for unexpected or incorrect charges.
      • Follow the on-screen troubleshooter to classify the issue (wrong amount, unexpected price increase, etc.).
    3. Request correction/refund for the overcharge
      • Use the official refund process for Microsoft subscriptions: follow the steps in “How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription” to submit a refund request for the overbilled period, referencing:
        • The October 2024 price change.
        • The December 2024 email offering a return to the original rate and the fact that the link was invalid.
        • The ongoing higher charges despite accepting the offer.
    4. Contact Microsoft support directly (live agent)
      • For Microsoft 365 home billing issues, use the Contact – Microsoft Support path described in the Q&A examples:
        • Sign in with the affected Microsoft account.
        • Choose the Microsoft 365/Office product.
        • For the help topic, select something like “Manage my subscription” or “Billing and Payment updates”.
        • Proceed until the “Chat with a support agent in your web browser” or callback option appears.
      • If chat shows as unavailable, retry during local business hours; availability is limited by region and time.
    5. If still unresolved, escalate with full documentation
      • When an agent is reached, provide:
        • Screenshots or copies of the October 2024 charge and later charges at the higher rate.
        • The December 2024 apology/offer email and confirmation that the “return to original rate” link was invalid.
        • A list of prior contact attempts (dates and channels: email, chat, callback requests).
      • Ask explicitly for:
        • Correction of the subscription to the originally offered rate.
        • A refund or credit for the difference between the original rate and the higher rate from October 2024 to present, if applicable under the refund policy.

If the billing continues at the higher rate after support has confirmed a correction, repeat step 2 (Investigate) for the new charges and reference the existing support case so the billing team can see the ongoing issue.
