MC account email lost

For a lost Minecraft/Microsoft account email, only the official Microsoft account recovery and hacked-account process can be used; support cannot directly reveal or change the email on the account.

Use these steps:

1. Confirm which email is a Microsoft account
   • Go to https://account.microsoft.com and enter the email address that still has the Minecraft purchase receipt.
   • If a password prompt appears, that address is a Microsoft account.
   • If the message says "We couldn't find an account with that username" or "That Microsoft account doesn't exist," then that email is not currently a Microsoft account or may have been closed. See the guidance in How to check if your email address is a Microsoft account.
2. Try standard sign-in and password reset
   • If the email is a Microsoft account, try signing in at account.microsoft.com.
   • If the password is forgotten, use Forgot password? and follow the reset steps.
   • If the username or password stopped working, follow the steps in My username and password have stopped working, including using the Recover your account flow at https://account.live.com/password/reset and any aliases/phone numbers that might be on the account.
3. If the account was hacked or the sign-in email was changed
   • Follow the official hacked/compromised account recovery guidance referenced in the Q&A answers:
     • Use the Microsoft Account Recovery form (ACSR) at https://account.live.com/acsr from a familiar device/location.
     • Provide as much accurate information as possible (old passwords, purchase details, etc.) so ownership can be verified.
   • If the recovery form succeeds, access to the Microsoft account (and thus Minecraft) can be restored.
   • If the recovery form fails and security info was replaced, there is no alternative method for Microsoft Support to override this.
4. If the Microsoft account truly no longer exists
   • If the sign-in page reports that the account does not exist even after checking spelling and domain, it may have been closed. See check if your Microsoft account is closed from the referenced article.
5. Contact paths when recovery fails
