A Microsoft digital storytelling app for creating and sharing interactive reports and presentations.
Sway enforces maximum file size limits for uploads. If picture uploads have suddenly started failing, the images being added may now exceed these limits.
Sway’s current limits are:
- Up to 20 MB for documents
- Up to 100 MB for audio files
- Up to 256 MB for all other content types (including images)
If an image is larger than the supported size, Sway shows an error that the file is too large and the upload will fail. These limits cannot be changed or increased.
To work around this:
- Check the file size of the images being uploaded.
- If any image is close to or above 256 MB, compress or resize it (for example, reduce resolution or save to a more compressed format like JPEG) so it falls well below the limit.
- Try uploading again after reducing the file size.
If images are clearly under these limits and uploads still fail, submit feedback so the Sway product team can investigate and consider improvements. Use the Send feedback option described on the Feedback for Microsoft 365 site and include the file type and size details.
