A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
The code must come from the Microsoft Authenticator app entry that is already registered for this account. Simply installing the app is not enough; the account must be added and configured in the app, or the existing MFA registration must be reset by the organization.
Use these checks and options:
- Check for the one-time password (OTP) in Authenticator
- Open Microsoft Authenticator on the phone.
- Tap the work/school account that matches the
@ms.bulsu.edu.phaddress. - Look for a line such as “One-time password code” showing a 6‑digit code that changes every 30 seconds.
- Enter that 6‑digit code in the Enter code box on the sign-in screen.
- If no OTP code appears for this account
- If tapping the account in Authenticator does not show a “One-time password code”, the app registration for this account is incomplete or tied to a different device.
- In that case, the MFA settings for the account must be reset by the tenant’s administrator or by Microsoft’s Data Protection team (for work/school tenants) so the account can be re-registered in Authenticator.
- When locked out and unable to get any code
- If no verification method works (no OTP in Authenticator, no SMS, no email code), the only supported path is admin or Microsoft support intervention. For work/school accounts, contact the institution’s IT/tenant admin and request an MFA reset for the account.
Once MFA is reset and reconfigured, the Authenticator account entry will show the rotating 6‑digit “one-time password code” that can be used on this screen.
