Using an academic Microsoft 365 Education account that was issued to someone else, based on their documents and eligibility, is not appropriate.

Microsoft 365 Education offers free subscriptions to students and educators at eligible institutions, and access is tied to the individual’s own school email and their institution’s verified eligibility status. The intent is that each eligible student or educator signs up with their own school-provided identity and uses the subscription personally for their own study or teaching activities, not that one person obtains eligibility on behalf of another or shares that entitlement.

To use Microsoft 365 Education legitimately, enrollment must be done with the school email from an eligible institution and after that institution’s eligibility is verified. If a school is not part of the program, its students are not covered by that free Education offer and should not use accounts issued to someone else or based on another person’s documents.

For compliant access, students whose schools are eligible can sign up directly with their own school email at the Microsoft education site, and institutions can go through the academic eligibility verification process to obtain the appropriate Education subscriptions for their own students and staff.
