Account Hacked /Compromised

For a hacked Microsoft account where the hacker has changed the security info and normal recovery has failed, only the official automated recovery and investigation processes can restore access. If those processes have resulted in permanent suspension or failed recovery, there is no additional escalation path beyond what is described below.

1. Use the official hacked/compromised account flow
   • Start with the official guidance for hacked accounts: How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account.
   • The sign-in helper tool there will ask for the email/phone and either show self-help options or offer a way to contact an agent. This is the only supported entry point for compromised consumer Microsoft accounts.
2. Ensure devices are clean before further attempts
   • Before any further recovery attempts, run a full malware/antivirus scan on every device that was used with the hacked account, as described in Step 1 of the hacked-account article. If malware remains, the attacker can regain access even if recovery succeeds.
3. Use the Microsoft account recovery form correctly
   • If normal password reset and security info options do not work, use the account recovery form as described in “Help with the Microsoft account recovery form”.
   • Prerequisites:
     • Have a working alternate email that can receive messages about the recovery request (this can be any account, including a newly created Outlook.com address).
   • When filling the form:
     • Provide as many accurate details as possible: old passwords, approximate account creation date, typical contacts, subject lines, and purchase details.
     • Submit the form from a device and location that were regularly used with the account.
   • If a recovery attempt is unsuccessful, it is possible to retry up to two times per day. Microsoft recommends reviewing the guidance for filling out the form before trying again.
4. If recovery is unsuccessful
   • If the recovery form is repeatedly rejected and the account is marked as permanently suspended or non-existent, there is no manual override: support agents are not allowed to reset passwords or change security details outside the automated process.
   • The “Account recovery unsuccessful” guidance confirms that if the form cannot validate ownership, the account cannot be restored, and agents cannot bypass this.
5. When security info was replaced by the hacker
   • As reflected in similar cases, if the hacker has fully replaced the security information and the automated systems cannot verify ownership, there is no alternative technical method to regain that specific Microsoft account, its OneDrive data, or linked purchases.
   • For Minecraft specifically, the recommended path is to contact Minecraft Support separately to see if they can help with game access, but this does not restore the Microsoft account itself.
6. If the account is locked or suspended
   • If the account was locked due to suspicious activity or policy violations, follow the instructions in the lock notice (often an aka.ms link) and complete the requested form. A Microsoft Online Safety agent will review and respond by email. Multiple submissions can slow the process.
   • If the account has been permanently suspended after review, there is no documented process in the provided material to reverse that decision.

Given the steps already taken (multiple ACSR submissions, SIR emails, chat support, and a permanent suspension decision), the only remaining supported actions are:

• Ensure all personal devices and other accounts are secure.
• Continue to use the official recovery form within its limits if it still accepts submissions.
• For Minecraft and other services that have their own support channels, contact those product-specific supports to ask about access options independent of the compromised Microsoft account.
