Using Outlook for Android for personal email and calendar management
Follow these steps to get Outlook working again on the new Samsung phone and address the lockout:
- Stop repeated sign-in attempts
Too many failed logins or recovery attempts can trigger temporary blocks and cooldowns. Do not keep retrying the password or recovery options repeatedly, as this can extend the lockout period. - Wait out the lockout window
If the account is temporarily locked due to too many attempts, wait at least 24 hours with no further sign-in or reset attempts before trying again. Extending the wait slightly beyond 24 hours is recommended.
If the account has been blocked due to suspicious activity, use the unblock process described below. - Check if the account itself is blocked
If this is an Outlook.com / Microsoft account and it has been blocked (not just the app), use the official unblock flow:
• Go to Unblock my Outlook.com account and follow the steps, or start with the Sign-in Helper: Unblock my Outlook.com account.
• If the account is locked at the Microsoft account level (no Next button when signing in), follow the guidance under Microsoft account has been locked and use the aka.ms/ link shown on the sign-in page. - If Outlook Mobile specifically is denied access
If the error on the phone is an Access Denied: Login Error for Outlook Mobile, this means the account has been denied access to Outlook for Android/iOS at the service level. In that case, only the organization’s IT administrator can unblock it. See: Access Denied: Login Error. - Fix possible sync/partnership issues after phone migration
If the account works on other devices or on the web but not on the new Samsung phone, remove the old mobile partnership and re-add Outlook:- Sign in to Outlook on the web.
- Go to Settings > Mail > General > Mobile Devices.
- Select the old phone and choose Remove. Confirm.
- Power off the new Samsung phone completely.
- Turn it back on and set up the account again in Outlook for Android.
Detailed steps: Fix email sync issues by removing a device from your Outlook mailbox.
- Reinstall Outlook on the Samsung phone
If the app itself is erroring after transfer (for example, “unexpected error occurred”), uninstall Outlook from the Samsung phone, then reinstall it from the app store and sign in again. This has resolved similar mobile sign-in issues after device changes. - If recovery attempts are rate-limited or maxed out
If password reset, verification codes, or the account recovery form have hit daily or usage limits, wait the full cooldown (typically about 24 hours) before trying again. Avoid any sign-in or reset attempts during this period so the timer can fully expire. When retrying, use the official Account Recovery Form from a familiar device and network, and provide accurate details, as recovery is automated and cannot be manually overridden by support.
If, after the cooldown and unblock steps, the account still cannot be accessed on any device (web or phone), continue with the guidance in Unblock my Outlook.com account and Microsoft account has been locked, and use the provided support/contact options there.
