I'm trying to print some documents in WORD but it never ends up printing. i looked at the print queue and noticed that they keep getting deleted automatically.

I have tried resetting the queue with no success

    Hi Cynthia P. Rodriguez,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

When print jobs are removed automatically instead of printing, it usually means Windows is unable to complete the job through the printer service or driver, even though the document is sent successfully.

In addition to Q&A Assist's answer, here's a clarification of the possible checking steps that you can try in this situation:

Step 1: Fully reset the Print Spooler

    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • Right‑click Print Spooler > select Stop.
    • Open File Explorer and go to: C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
    • Delete all files in this folder.
    • Return to Services, right‑click Print Spooler, and select Start.

Step 2: Check and update printer drivers

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand Printers or Print queues.
    • Remove unused or duplicate printers.
    • Restart the PC.
    • Install the latest driver from the printer manufacturer.

Step 3: Remove and re‑add the printer

    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
    • Select the printer > Remove.
    • Restart the PC.
    • Add the printer again and print a test page

You can try printing from Notepad or a PDF.

    • If those also fail, the issue is system or driver related.
    • If they work, the issue is isolated to Word’s print interaction.

If the issue continues after these steps, running the built‑in Windows printer troubleshooter or checking with the printer manufacturer for a Windows 11-compatible driver is recommended. When print jobs disappear from the queue without printing, the Print Spooler service or its data is often corrupted. Since the queue reset did not help, use the deeper spooler and driver checks below on Windows 11.

    1. Clear the print queue from Settings
      1. Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      2. Select the printer and choose Open print queue.
      3. Right‑click each job and select Cancel until the list is empty.
    2. Restart the Print Spooler service
      1. Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
      2. Scroll to Print Spooler.
      3. Right‑click Print Spooler and select Restart.
      4. Try printing again from Word.
    3. Manually clear the spool folder (if jobs still vanish)
      1. Stop the Print Spooler service:
        • Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
        • Right‑click Print Spooler > Stop.
      2. Open File Explorer and go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS.
      3. Delete all files in this folder (these are stuck/corrupted spool files, not documents).
      4. Start the Print Spooler again:
        • In services.msc, right‑click Print Spooler > Start.
      5. Print a small test document from Word.
    4. Check for driver issues (spooler crashes can silently drop jobs)
      1. Select Start, type Device Manager, open it.
      2. Expand Print queues or Printers.
      3. Uninstall any old, duplicate, or unused printer entries.
      4. Install the latest driver for the exact printer model from the printer manufacturer’s site.
      5. Test printing again.
    5. Check for no‑output conditions on the printer If jobs appear briefly then disappear but nothing prints, treat it as a “no print output” scenario:
      1. In Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, open the printer’s Printer properties.
      2. On the Advanced tab, clear Enable advanced printing features.
      3. Apply, then try printing again.
      4. If still failing, create a new printer queue for the same device (Add device again) and test printing through the new queue.
    6. Check the spool folder for persistent corruption
      1. Verify that after a successful print attempt, files in C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers are removed automatically.
      2. If old files remain or reappear, stop Print Spooler, move any remaining files out of that folder, then start Print Spooler and test again.

If, after these steps, Word jobs still vanish while other apps print correctly, the issue is likely specific to Office and further Office‑specific troubleshooting would be required.
