So my account was hacked today, and I had to make a new account to post this. I went through all the right avenues to try and get my account back, and nothing. "sorry we can't help you." What more information do you need? I've given thousands of dollars to these people, and you won't recover my account? Needless to say, I will be looking into legal counsel because this is ridiculous. How do I have TFI, and my account still gets hacked? If I didn't know better, I'd think they're out here selling my information.

For a hacked Microsoft account where standard recovery paths are failing, only the official automated processes can be used; support agents cannot bypass them or manually “force” a recovery, even for long‑time or high‑spend customers.

    Follow these steps end‑to‑end:

    1. Secure all devices first
      • Run a full, up‑to‑date antivirus/malware scan on every PC/phone/tablet used to sign in to the account. If using Windows 10/11, ensure Microsoft Defender is enabled and run a full scan as described in the guidance for hacked accounts.
      • Do this before changing any passwords to avoid the attacker immediately regaining access.
    2. Use the hacked/compromised account flow
      • Start with the official hacked‑account troubleshooter: use the Sign‑in Helper, which will ask for the email/phone and then route to the correct self‑help or support options.
      • If sign‑in is still possible, change the password immediately to a strong, unique one and then review security info and sign‑in history.
    3. If the account is locked or blocked
      • If the sign‑in page does not show Next or indicates the account is locked, follow the aka.ms link shown in the lock message and submit the reinstatement form.
      • After submitting, wait for the Online Safety team’s email response; do not submit multiple forms in parallel, as this can slow processing.
    4. If recovery attempts are unsuccessful
      • Use the Microsoft account recovery form (ACSR) via the official recovery flow and provide as much accurate detail as possible (old passwords, typical contacts, subjects, etc.).
      • If the recovery request is declined, it is possible to retry (up to two times per day). Review the official guidance for filling out the recovery form before each new attempt.
      • If the form says the account does not exist and there is no “continue anyway” option, and the Sign‑in Helper cannot locate the account, there is no additional manual override; support agents are not allowed to reset passwords or change security info outside these flows.
    5. If Outlook.com/OneDrive access is blocked
      • If Outlook.com is specifically blocked due to unusual activity, use the Outlook.com unblock flow via the Sign‑in Helper. If that fails, follow the “When you can’t sign in to your Microsoft account” path from that article.
    6. Strengthen security going forward
      • Once access is restored (or for any new account):
        • Add multiple sign‑in and verification methods (additional email, phone, authenticator app) from Advanced security options so there are backup ways to prove identity.
        • Regularly review and update security info so recovery options remain valid.
        • Avoid staying signed in on shared/public devices; always sign out and close the browser, or use private browsing.

If all official recovery and reinstatement options fail and the automated systems do not accept the provided information, there is no supported technical method to force recovery of a consumer Microsoft account. In that case, focus on:

    • Securing other accounts that used the same password or email.
    • Monitoring financial accounts and disputing any fraudulent charges with the payment provider.
