Use Designer in Business Central to change which columns appear on the time sheet page and how they are arranged. Designer works in a sandbox environment and lets changes be made directly in the web client.
To adjust the time sheet view (columns and their placement):
- Open the sandbox environment and navigate to the time sheet page the way users do (for example, from the project via Registration → Time Registration so the correct page instance is open).
- Start Designer from the web client (the Designer entry point is available only in a sandbox). This opens the page in design mode.
- Use Designer capabilities for columns:
- Add components: add new columns to the time sheet grid.
- Move components: drag columns to change their order.
- Remove components: remove columns that should not be shown.
- Exclude field from Quick Entry: control which columns are skipped when users press Enter.
- Set freeze pane and clear freeze pane: choose which columns stay fixed when scrolling horizontally.
- Adjust column width: resize columns so important information is visible.
- When the layout is as required, save the extension and download the code if needed for source control.
- Test by reopening the time sheet from the project (Registration → Time Registration) to confirm the column set and layout are correct.
Note:
- Designer is only available in a Business Central sandbox, not in production.
- Each design session creates or updates an extension; these Designer-based extensions are removed when the sandbox is updated or relocated, so the extension source should be downloaded and backed up regularly.
If the goal is also to control which fields users fill in on the time sheet itself (for example, which columns are available when they register hours), combine the page design changes with the standard time sheet usage pattern (adding lines of type Resource or Absence and entering hours per day) so that the visible columns match the registration needs.
