This is really terrible situation, because of locked account to loose all my importante files!! And noone responds. No help nothing. There is no way of reaching out. I will make sure I will not use Microsoft again. And also will spread the word so this doesn’t happen to other people. I see in this forum many people having the same problem and the responds to them is nothing we can do. Because some people tried to hack us this doesn’t mean you can lock us out of our improtant files.

I already send my form answering all questions correctly but no response.... I guess I will have to this many times as they suggest but probably with no result. There should be an easier way for this. I am in hotmail more than 20 years!! Never go back again.

Account locks and OneDrive access are fully controlled by automated security systems, and forum moderators or support agents cannot directly unlock accounts or bypass recovery.

To maximize the chance of regaining access and protecting OneDrive data, follow only the official flows and avoid repeated attempts that can extend blocks:

    1. If the Microsoft account itself is locked
      • Go to https://account.microsoft.com and follow the unlock flow to get a security code.
      • Any phone number that can receive SMS can be used; it does not need to be linked to the account or be a smartphone.
      • You may be required to create a new, strong password afterward. See the guidance in How to help keep your Microsoft account secure.
      • If you see “That Microsoft account doesn’t exist” or you simply can’t sign in, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper links provided in the article.
    2. If Outlook.com/Hotmail sign-in is blocked
      • Use the dedicated Outlook.com unblock flow via the Sign-in Helper described in the Outlook.com article.
      • If unblocking fails even after entering codes or changing the password, follow the guidance under “When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account” from that article.
    3. If the account recovery form was already submitted and failed
      • The recovery process is automated for security; support agents cannot override it or manually unlock accounts.
      • If a recovery request is not granted, it can be retried as many times as needed, but only up to two times per day.
      • Before resubmitting, review the official guidance for filling out the recovery form carefully to improve accuracy, then submit again from a familiar device and location.
      • If the additional security info shown is not recognized, use the Sign-In Helper referenced in the recovery article.
    4. If verification codes or methods are blocked or rate-limited
      • Excessive or repeated requests, unusual activity, or traffic from a risky location can trigger temporary blocks and “Try another verification method” messages.
      • To resolve:
        • Try a different verification method already on the account (alternate email instead of SMS, or vice versa).
        • Try another network (switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, or use a different Wi‑Fi network).
        • Wait at least 24 hours with no further attempts; repeated retries can reset the cooldown. If needed, wait longer (up to about a week) before trying again.
        • Use the sign-in helper troubleshooter linked in the verification-code article to identify the specific issue and see available options.
    5. OneDrive “frozen” or storage-related issues
      • If the OneDrive associated with the locked account is frozen because storage is exceeded, files remain in place but become read-only and new uploads/syncs stop.
      • If nothing is done for 6 months while over the storage limit, OneDrive and all files in it may be deleted and become non-recoverable.
      • If a “OneDrive account frozen” message was received and there might be another Microsoft account (for example, created with Samsung Gallery), sign in with that other account to unfreeze it. If the sign-in details for that other account are forgotten, use the account recovery link in the OneDrive article.
    6. When there is still no access
      • If all official methods (unlock flow, Outlook.com unblock, recovery form, sign-in helper, and waiting out blocks) fail, there is no additional manual escalation path documented in the provided materials. Continuing to use only the official forms and helpers, with accurate information and sufficient waiting time between attempts, is the only supported route.
