Managing personal Outlook.com account settings, security, and privacy
MSN Premium and Microsoft account billing issues, including reinstating a subscription after a chargeback, cannot be handled through the forum and require direct contact with Microsoft Support and/or the bank.
To move forward:
- Investigate the charge and subscription status
- Sign in to the Microsoft account associated with the MSN Premium email and review charges and subscriptions on the Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services
- If there are unrecognized or disputed charges, follow the guidance in How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft.
- Understand the impact of the chargeback
- A chargeback is when the bank or card provider reverses a payment because it is disputed as unauthorized. Repeated or incorrect chargebacks can be treated as misuse or fraud and can result in suspension or cancellation of services.
- If the chargeback was a mistake, contact the bank to confirm the dispute status and that no further disputes are active for Microsoft charges.
- Contact Microsoft Support for reinstatement and billing correction
- Because account access and billing adjustments require secure handling of personal and payment data, reinstating MSN Premium and recharging the disputed amount must be done directly with Microsoft Support.
- Use the Microsoft Support contact flow for Billing and Payment or Manage my subscription and request:
- Reinstatement of the MSN Premium subscription on the affected Microsoft account.
- Rebilling of the reversed January 28, 2026 payment (or guidance on how to pay any outstanding balance).
- If the Microsoft account itself was closed or suspended
- If the Microsoft account tied to the MSN address was closed, sign in at https://account.microsoft.com and follow the steps to reopen the account during the 30- or 60-day grace period.
- After reopening, any remaining subscription time will be available, but cancelled or expired subscriptions must be repurchased.
- If you believe there were other incorrect or duplicate charges
- Review payment history and, if eligible, request a refund for any incorrect charges using the official refund process for Microsoft subscriptions.
Because this scenario involves a prior chargeback and a suspended paid service, only Microsoft Support and the bank can fully resolve it; community or automated channels cannot directly reinstate or charge the account.
