A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
The sign-in prompt is showing an unrecognized email (ov*****@gmail.com) as security info. When the phone/email offered for a verification code is not recognized, the guidance is:
- Confirm the account being used
- Make sure the correct Microsoft account address is being entered, including the domain (for example, .com vs .co.uk) and correct spelling of the name part (for example, rachel vs rachael).
- Treat the unrecognized address as incorrect security info
- If the email shown for verification is not recognized and does not appear anywhere in the account’s security info, use the recovery path instead of trying to verify with that address.
- Go through the account recovery process to regain access and then update the security info.
- Use the “I don’t have any of these” option
- When prompted to send a verification code to that unknown email, select I don't have any of these (or equivalent) and follow the prompts. This is the supported way to replace or update backup security info when the listed phone/email cannot be used.
- If sign-in or verification is blocked
- If repeated attempts or unusual activity have occurred, the account might be temporarily blocked and codes may not be sent. In that case, use the sign-in helper to diagnose the issue and follow the recommended steps.
If none of the available methods work and the account recovery flow does not accept the information provided, support agents cannot override security checks or change security info; in that situation, waiting and trying again with as much accurate recovery information as possible is required.
