Windows 10 "Fix Account" error after major updates

Every time I restart my computer (Windows 10), I sign in to my account using my pin but then when I try to use Outlook or use saved passwords in Edge, the computer asks me to "Fix My Account" and I have to enter my pin again (same pin used for logon). This has been happening for years and it eventually goes away for a while before the next major/monthly update breaks it again, and I'm tired of it and want to learn how to fix the problem. It also says Fix My Account in the notification center on each start up, and if you go into your Accounts in settings the "Fix My Account" button is there too. I want to stop this from happening, anyone know a permanent fix to this annoyance?

The issue you're experiencing with the "Fix My Account" prompt after major updates in Windows 10 can often be related to problems with the Windows Credential Manager or authentication settings. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Clear Cached Credentials:
      • Open Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials.
      • Look for any entries related to your Microsoft account, Outlook, or Edge and remove them.
      • Restart your computer and re-enter your credentials when prompted.
    2. Enable Modern Authentication:
      • Check with your IT team or settings to ensure that Modern Authentication is enabled for your Microsoft account, as this can help with persistent login issues.
    3. Check for Updates:
      • Make sure your Windows 10 is up to date, as Microsoft frequently releases patches that can fix bugs related to account authentication.
    4. Repair Office:
      • If the issue persists specifically with Outlook, you may want to repair your Office installation. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and choose the repair option.
    5. Reset Windows Credentials:
      • If none of the above solutions work, consider resetting your Windows credentials by going to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school, and disconnecting and reconnecting your account.

These steps should help mitigate the issue, but if it continues, you may want to reach out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.
