Issue: Windows 11 stuck in loop connecting and disconnecting Bluetooth headphones (Shokz)

The Issue

As the title states: Windows 11 keeps getting stuck in a loop, flipping between having my headphones connected and having them disconnected. This happens on laptop or headphones startup, as well as when the headphones get into range of the laptop.

My laptop and all its drivers are up to date, un-pairing and re-pairing the devices hasn't fixed it, and the AI in Microsoft's "Get Help" is of no help (I can perform a checklist myself TYVM).

The other device

Device in question is the Shokz OpenSwim Pro, with multipoint-pairing enabled to connect to my phone. I know the headphones aren't the cause, because the issue doesn't occur when I use it in conjunction with either of 2 other Windows devices (although they run on Windows 10).
Weirdly, the issue doesn't occur when I connect my Bluetooth mouse to this laptop. It only happens between this laptop and these headphones. There doesn't appear to be any other pattern (be it sound playing or not playing on either my laptop or phone, etc.) to when the issue does and doesn't occur, but it's far from rare.

Desired fix

When Windows 11 gets into the aforementioned connect-disconnect loop, the only fix is to manually connect the headphones. I would much prefer if Windows just autoconnects once and leaves it at that, but since my main source of frustration is the noises made whenever the headphones connect or disconnect, I would also accept if Windows didn't autoconnect at all.

To address the issue of your Windows 11 laptop getting stuck in a connect-disconnect loop with your Shokz OpenSwim Pro headphones, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Update Bluetooth Drivers: Ensure that your Bluetooth drivers are up to date. You can check for updates by going to Settings > Windows Update and selecting Check for updates. Updated drivers can resolve many connectivity issues.
    2. Disable Exclusive Mode: Sometimes, enabling exclusive mode can cause connectivity problems. To turn off exclusive mode for your Bluetooth headphones, go to Settings > System > Sound. Then select Advanced > More sound settings. In the Sound dialog box, select your headphones, click on Properties, go to the Advanced tab, and uncheck Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device. Click Apply to save changes.
    3. Remove and Re-Pair Headphones: Remove the headphones from your Bluetooth devices list and then re-pair them. This can help reset the connection settings.
    4. Check for Interference: Since you mentioned that the issue does not occur with other devices, ensure that there are no other Bluetooth devices nearby that could be causing interference.
    5. Test Without Multipoint Pairing: If multipoint pairing is enabled, try disabling it and see if that resolves the issue. Sometimes, multipoint connections can lead to instability.
    6. Windows Troubleshooter: Use the built-in Bluetooth troubleshooter. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, and select Bluetooth to run the troubleshooter.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may be worth checking with the manufacturer for any specific compatibility issues with Windows 11.
