Forgot password to microsoft account, email code works fine but SMS doesnt

Ive recently installed a new CPU in my desktop and need to sign in to my windows account, I have 2 step verification turned on and the email portion works fine, but when a second code is needed from my phone it says to try another method, my phone number is the same and i allow calls and texts from all numbers - i use this computer for work as well as personal use and would like to know if somebody has come across this before
