Teams randomly muting whilst using device inbuilt speakers

I understand you're experiencing an unexpected issue with Teams, and after reviewing your concern, it seems you may be encountering a hardware-software conflict between the Windows 11 24H2 audio stack and HP's Bang & Olufsen / Realtek audio enhancement drivers. This conflict can cause the system’s "Intelligent Noise Cancellation" or "Voice Focus" features to incorrectly interpret quiet ambient noise, leading to random audio muting.

Please try the following steps to see if it resolves your issue:

1: Disable "Exclusive Mode" in Windows

Windows 11 24H2 has changed how it handles "Exclusive Mode," which allows apps like Teams to take total control of the hardware. This can cause the driver to "hiccup" and mute itself.

1. Go to Settings > System > Sound.
2. Scroll down to More sound settings (this opens the classic Control Panel view).
3. Right-click your Speakers and select Properties.
4. Go to the Advanced tab.
5. Uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device."
6. Click Apply and restart Teams.

2: Turn off Teams "Noise Suppression"

Teams has its own AI-based noise suppression that can conflict with the built-in HP audio processing.

1. 1. In Teams, click the three dots (…) next to your profile picture and select Settings.
   2. Go to the Devices tab.
   3. Locate Noise suppression and set it to Off.

Since the HP Elitebook already has hardware-level noise cancellation, running both features simultaneously often causes the random muting or “gate” issue.

3: Disable "Audio Enhancements" in HP Drivers

HP Elitebooks often come with "AI Noise Reduction" via the HP Wolf Security or HP Audio Control app.

1. Search your laptop for the myHP or HP Audio Control app.
2. Look for "Microphone/Speaker Noise Removal" and toggle it off.
3. Alternatively, go to Settings > System > Sound > Speakers and set Audio enhancements to Off.
