Facebook codes disappeared and account not backed up but need Facebook codes

My old phone had Facebook on authenticator but I didn't know i needed to back the account up. My daughter deleted the app and I have not been able to get the codes back. I have spoken to the Facebook support team who say it is a Microsoft issue and that the set up should be recoverable. They are unable to turn off the 2FA without the codes so effectively I am locked out of Facebook. How can you recover the Facebook setup in Authenticator for me.
