A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
Authenticator 'number prompt' has stopped working correctly
Hi there,
I am wondering if this is a known issue, or this might be something to do with my company - as far as I know I'm the only one in the organization that is having this issue.
My authenticator is behaving strange, in the sense that it works, but the number prompt seems to be broken.
Steps:
- Sign in - email + password
- Number prompt displays on screen
- Phone push notification appears
- Tap on notification
- Number field displays
- Enter number from number prompt on other device
- Tap 'yes'
- I use fingerprint as biometric security
- Authenticator has loading symbol until main device says 'We didn't hear from you'
Similar thing happens when I ignore the prompt and go to the authenicator app itself:
- Open authenticator
- Swipe down as instructed
- "Checking for notifications" loader stays indefinitely.
This had happened before - I had to uninstall and reinstall my authenticator to get it working again - which is a large hassle as I need to re-setup all my security codes etc.
I have done the usual things - restarted phone, restarted PC, force stopped app, cleared cache (I don't want to delete data as I can't afford to risk not being able to log in at this time)
The normal authentication code works
The text base system also works.
Just the number prompt seems to be broken.
Once again, I am the only one in the organization that is having this issue, it was working before, no changes to my account/passwords have been made, I have spoken to IT Ops and they cannot see any issues with my account.... So this must be an application problem as far as I can tell.
Technical specs:
App version: 6.2512.8111
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S20 FE
Android version: 13
I hope this is enough information to get some help in this matter - Thanks
