How to disable automatic passkey creation

I am attempting to sign-in to my Microsoft account on my computer to access the Microsoft office apps online. I have three methods programmed to grant me access (password, email code, text code). I’m using the browser Google Chrome. When I sign in, I use my authentication method, and as the computer is loading to log me in, I see a pop up that a passkey is being created. I do not want that. And it doesn’t matter if I want it or not, because I get a page with “We couldn’t create a passkey. Something went wrong trying to create a passkey. Please try again.” But the entire browser window is frozen. I can’t click try again. I can’t click cancel. I can’t minimize, move, or exit the window. I have to go into the task manager to exit the program. I don’t want to do that. I want to be able to sign in with my password and have access to my account. Help me please.
