How to view all the pages of a Tiff document with Windows 11

With Windows 10 I could see all the pages of my Tiff document, but I had to upgrade to Windows 11 and I can only see the first page of my document. How can I view all the pages of my Tiff document?

Thanks for sharing the details, Edwin! Try to use Windows' legacy Windows Photo Viewer

Windows Photo Viewer fully supports multi-page TIFFs, but Microsoft hides it in Windows 11. You can re-enable it.

Steps

Press Win + R → regedit

Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Photo Viewer\Capabilities\FileAssociations

Add a new String Value for .tif and .tiff:

Name: .tif Value: PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff
Name: .tiff Value: PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff

Now go to Settings → Apps → Default apps

Search .tif → choose Windows Photo Viewer

Open your TIFF.

You will now see the full multi-page navigation (previous/next page arrows) exactly like Windows 10.

This is the closest to restoring Windows 10 TIFF behavior.

These registry keys were already in place on the Windows 11 24H2 image that we use. I was able to revert tiff files to using Windows Photo Viewer by right clicking a tiff file and following the steps below.

It is unfortunate that the Photos app is missing this feature, but this appears to be a valid workaround as long as the legacy photo viewer doesn't get stripped in a future update.

I had the same problem and found this post. The idea of using Windows Photo Viewer was great, but in case anyone else finds this post, seems like you may not have to do a registry edit to set Windows Photo Viewer as the default. Instead, go to System Settings --> Apps --> Default Apps. Then scroll down to find Windows Photo Viewer. It then offers only two possible file associations -- .tif and .tiff. Click each of the existing associated programs, and change them to Windows Photo Viewer. And that's it! In the future, anytime you try to open a tif or tiff file, it should use Windows Photo Viewer and you should be able to see all pages.

I went through steps. In settings, windows photo viewer was not an option for apps, only Photos, which only shows first page of tiff. However the suggestion just to use "other apps" in the right-click menu, to get to windows photo viewer, was great. Thanks
